Volunteering with Leap of Dance Academy | Inspiring Artists

On June 5th, 2021 we teamed up with our Ballerina Ambassador, Livy, to host a guest ballet class and fundraiser for Leap of Dance Academy. Leap of Dance Academy is a ballet school in Nigeria, they offer free dance classes and other services to their local community. Both this academy and Dancing Doll Books has a goal of making classical ballet more accessible, so of course we were happy to contribute to their mission!

Livy has over 20 years of ballet experience, with training in Cuban, Vaganova, and Royal Academy of Dancing methods. She's a proud Dancing Doll Books Ballerina Ambassador because she also wants to enrich the global community through the arts. Livy also invited Wade Davis, a professional cellist and dancer, to join this charitable event. Wade happily accepted and brought the magical gift of live, world class cello music to the students!

Not only did the students enjoy live instruction by a professionally trained ballerina, but guests were also able to tune in to the class. The live class was available to anyone who watched via Instagram Live, and guests were encouraged to donate to the academy's food program to help feed students. Dancing Doll Books also contributed to the fundraiser by matching all donations and organizing the transfer of funds to the academy. Considering the current state of the world, we understand that not everyone can give a monetary donation, but volunteering virtually or even sharing this cause can also make a big impact!
